Historical Background
It is well known, that the use of spring water as a drinking, therapeutic and ornamental resource has historical origins with the Romans. Not surprisingly, the earliest historical information about the Ognyanovo hot springs comes from the Roman period on the Balkans. The significance of the springs as a source of life is proven by the remains of Roman installations – baths and conduits, found in or near the ruined town of Nicopolis ad Nestum (at present – in the municipality of Garmen, in the proximity of Ognyanovo).
